As Professor of Music Education, Valerie Krupp has been teaching on the music teacher training courses at the Mainz University of Music since 2017, focusing on classroom teaching and music education research. She is co-leading the department of music education. In her research, she addresses factors influencing arts education and participation and social justice. A second research focus lies in the area of teaching quality. For the Dialoguing Arts project (EU Horizon 23-24), she was awarded a visiting professorship at NORD University from 2024-2026.

Valerie Krupp has been editor of the journal Beiträge empirische Musikpädagogik since 2015.

At JGU Mainz, she is a member of the Coordination Board of the Center for School, Education and Higher Education Research. She is Rector of the Mainz University of Music since April 2023.
