BIO

Heike Drotbohm is Full Professor in Social and Cultural Anthropology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Prior to this position, she held a Heisenberg position, financed by the German Research Foundation. She taught and researched at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Freiburg, where she completed her habilitation in 2012. She was a fellow at the International Research Center "Work and Life Course in Global Perspective" (Re:Work) in Berlin (2011/2012) and fellow at the German Research Foundation's research group 1288: "Friends, Patrons, Clients. Practice and semantics of friendship and patronage in historical, anthropological and cross-cultural perspectives" in Freiburg (2014). She was also a visiting researcher at the “Centro de Estudos de Migrações Internacionais” (2014) at UNICAMP in Campinas, Brazil and at the Department of Anthropology at the New School for Social Research in NYC. As a guest professor she was employed in Konstanz (2012/13) and Freiburg (2013 and 2015). In 2013 she was awarded the Albert Bürklin prize of Freiburg University.
