Dr.Thorsten Hindrichs

BIO

Thorsten Hindrichs studied musicology, Italian literature, and special education at the University of Cologne, Università per Stranieri di Perugia, and Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. He graduated with a thesis on Renaissance composer Filippo di Monte (published as Philipp de Monte (1521-1603) – Komponist, Kapellmeister, Korrespondent, Göttingen: Hainholz 2002) and received his PhD with his work on German guitar music around 1800 (published as Zwischen ‚leerer Klimperey‘ und ‚wirklicher Kunst‘ – Gitarrenmusik in Deutschland um 1800, Münster et al., Waxmann 2012). His main research and teaching topics include music and youth cultures, RechtsRock, Renaissance musical life, and guitar music. Since 2002 he is research fellow at the department of musicology, Johannes Gutenberg-University Mainz. Furthermore, he works as scientific advisor and freelance author with regard to political education on right-wing extremism and music.
