Dr.Valentina Martinoia

I am an archaeological scientist using stable isotope analysis (δ¹³C, δ¹⁵N, δ³⁴S, ⁸⁷Sr/⁸⁶Sr, δ¹⁸O) to reconstruct the diet and mobility of past communities across Europe. I completed my PhD at Simon Fraser University (Canada) in 2024, focusing on the application of compound-specific isotope analysis (CSIA-AA) to questions of dietary change in prehistoric Europe. Beyond this, my research interests have centered particularly on the application of stable isotope analysis to prehistoric Croatian populations and Early Medieval communities in Italy. I am currently part of Prof. Maria Ivanova-Bieg's group at Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, working on a project focused on human mobility in the Copper Age Mediterranean.
